Welcome to the canon explorer discussion hub, where you can tidily discuss the GL media that will get you through the hopscotch board.

A bit of housekeeping to start:

- below, you will find top-level comments for general chatter, questions, and one for each hopscotch square
- each hopscotch square will have a reply already there for recs, if you want to ask for a rec or leave a rec that's relevant to the square, feel free to leave it there
- when commenting about a specific piece of media, consider using the subject field of the comment box to put the name of the media and the medium
- for fanworks, consider including the title and fandom in the subject field
- don't be a dick rules apply here, discussion is welcome, rude behavior, homophobia, racism, transphobia will not be tolerated

I'll kick this post off I suppose :) Since I've been kicking my own ass finishing up 焚情 for the better part of a year, I won't cheat and use that as my historical fiction.

Since the English translation of Wen Guan has just wrapped up, I think I'll start in reverse and read it in English and then in cn if I enjoy it enough.

From the fan summary: A ragtag group of eccentric beings embark on tomb raiding adventures and along the way, uncover stories of their past.

Wen Guan carrd if you'd like to take a look.

If reading in English, I'd suggest starting with earless translations' version first until those chapters run out (I edited those so feel quite affectionate towards them).

And bless, I will absolutely do that XD That gives me even more incentive, I do truly love your translation style. (I lol'ed at the first iteration of this btw.)

Ahahaha, the 烬师姐 on my shoulder told me not to be mean (and the angry Shen Ni in front of me is demanding to know what her wife is doing on my shoulder).

Ahahaha. I hope you have a good reading experience with the originals! (and I keep telling the translator of the earless version how good she is, she just won't believe me).

I finished reading Miss Mu and Her Pet Canary recently and had a great time! It's also set in the Republican Era, and unlike 90% of Republican Era stories, has a happy ending.

Fan* synopsis: It's the 1920s, and Mu Xing has just returned home from her medical studies abroad. Always a tomboy, she insists on going out and about in men's clothes, and finds great amusement in passing herself off to new acquaintances as 'Young Master Mu'. She encounters the courtesan Bai Yan, who is on the lookout for a rich, young, credulous man whom she can talk into buying out her indenture and setting her up in a home of her own. The dashing, earnest, unattached Young Master Mu, Bai Yan decides, is exactly who she's looking for.

Longer review here.

Your review has had me excited about this, when I get a second wind for Republican era I'm gonna move this up the list. Everything about the gender shenanigans is right up my interests

The gender shenanigans are SO GOOD. Love seeing a girl out-boyfriend actual boys. I also like that the text treats it with proper seriousness.
